Very nice. I was considering doing that (getting a super sweet Warmoth neck) with the VG-caster but the existing neck once I cleaned 12 years of dust and crap off it was a lovely piece of wood.
That fretboard! Yow! Still might put one together someday anyway.

I sorted through a virtual stack of fretboards online (you can pick the actual wood blank you want) and they were all pretty meh....until I got to literally the bottom of the heap...and there it was....wow

I have had a couple of Warmoth necks, and they have been great.

Cool! I've had a few Warmoth parts over the years and was always pretty happy with them.

Well, the intention was to go with a vintage cream white or a coral but you can't get a true (fake) Fender coral .... there never was a true coral color....it was supposedly faded fiesta red....but the coral on the market doesn't get the job done. I want to pick up the green and blues in the abalone so I'm going with turquoise ocean + tortoise shell pickguard.....I usually stick with a white guard but the blue / green + white will give it a cooler tone and I want to preserve some of the warmth in the kingwood.
Speaking of kingwood, the feel of it is unreal. Feels kind of like a very dense maple ....very, very smooth.

Blue against the browns of the fretboard and pickguard will highlight the whole bolt-neck aesthetic. It's a good look.

I think the tortoise shell thing will push it in the right direction. But it's going to take WEEKs to get the finish right. Just ordered the stuff today. Nitro laquer

Trad nitro had a learning curve for me too. Filling, priming, orange peel, sanding through coats, clear coating, checking. Pristine finishing is a true craft.

Yeah, I understand it is quite the ordeal. I gotta be patient and just take the time to do it. I guess if worse comes to worse I can just do a relic job on it ;D

The spraying of 'sand and seal' has begun.....3,498,348 brain cells have died in the first two coats. Wow.
