okay gtroblq.blogspot.com/2012/05/egos-warmoth-partscaster.htmlgot a little worried about this color so I took it out into direct sunlight and put the pick guard and neck on the body. Whew! I think it will end up looking pretty damn good. It appears more green in person. This camera just cannot capture it for some reason.

Very nice. Great color. You must have learned great patience on this project, lol.

Here's the deal: the finishing of the body takes so damned long that it gives you plenty of time to really consider your next moves: which bridge? which pickups? chrome or nickel? dome top or flat top? etc..... This cuts way down on the regret and remorse stage of putting a guitar together LOL

This is my first, only, and last paint job. Total fail. Patience does not help here at all. Oh, you can get the mirror-like finish only to find hundreds of shitty imperfections in the color coat underneath. WTF? Too pissed off to take photos. Just take my advice and buy the body already finished.

Damn. That's too bad. That color might not be very forgiving, but still. It's not easy.
If it comes to this, and I'm not recommending it, just saying: stage one of a 'relic' finish is place it in a plastic bag and put it in a freezer for a day or two, then removed it to the ambient heat. The lacquer will check.
That can make it look more like a thing with uniform character, rather than an irredeemably flawed new finish.

Sorry dude. My first , last and only finish involved Rust-o-leum that is still lumpy 20 years later. This is my first, only, and last paint job. Total fail. Patience does not help here at all. Oh, you can get the mirror-like finish only to find hundreds of shitty imperfections in the color coat underneath. WTF? Too pissed off to take photos. Looks good in the blog photos, but I guess in person more flaws show up.
I did that freezer relic trick to my Uncles old Martin 12 string... not on purpose. An hour in my car during wintertime, then brought it into the house and set it next to the floor vent. When I opened the case the next day, the entire guitar finish was checked. Boy did my heart sink after than one. He ended up selling that guitar to George Grun for pretty good money, and so it goes...

This is my first, only, and last paint job. I long ago learned I do not not have the skill or patience to deal with guitar finishing in any way, beyond putting stickers on an ugly guitar. I will do lots of other mods myself, but finishing sort of approaches alchemy. A friend of mine is a budding luthier and actually starting to sell some guitars, but finishes are still his biggest pain in the ass.

well, when you stand back from it about 6 or 8 feet the thing looks fantastic. LOL
I put on the bridge, mounted the neck, etc., and strung it up and gave it a setup. Damn, it plays real well. The action is better than on my G/L Legacy and that's with no fret leveling at all.

something is horribly wrong. I soldered the thing up and everything works the first time kicking little tele to say the least. Of all things, I forgot to order the cable socket nearly done. The action is surprisingly good with no additional leveling. I put 9s on it and it's pretty damn good. 10s not so much.
