Oh, I was hoping for an econo-assortment pack of 5 or 7 picks at a reduced introductory price of, say, $15,000 ;D

Or a bunch of creeps who can't play like a TRUE ROCKER (whatever that is).

So I gave in and ordered myself a V-Pick Chester.
Part of me wanted to hate it, because I certainly don't need my favorite pick to cost $25 + shipping.
But no... it's great.
Ridiculously comfortable, no more cutting off the circulation to my thumb.
Sounds great, none of the cheap plastic sound of Dunlop thumbpicks or Fred Kelly's.
Cuts through the strings like a steak knife and the edge doesn't wear away easily.
It doesn't have the height adjustment like Fred Kelly Bumblebee picks do, but honestly it's not necessary. Flatpicking is a breeze, so I don't have to get anal about adjusting it.

hmm, I really like the idea of thumb picks, but I've never found one that I liked at all. There is no way I'll 25 dollars for one though, and I imagine the "upstroke" limitation on the V picks would be a deal breaker. If I could just find the right size, angle, girth, material, etc... I'd be a very happy person. I have the Bumble Bee, but it just feels wrong, and the moving angle is annoying, plus the material on the pick itself is pretty horrid. I still like the idea of it. If it could use the EJ Jazz III pick, and was set at the right angle for me (a lefty), I'd probably use it indefinitely.
Speaking of picks, I've grown to really like the EJ Jazz III picks lately. I kind of got away from Jazz IIIs for a little bit, but my picking angle has been slowly shifting the last 6 months, and now they feel really good.

I have decided I am not wild about any of the V Picks that I tried. The really thick ones are too alien to me and the thinner ones wear strangely and i get the pick caught on the strings. I have been having the most luck with these, I had been using the super pointy purple tortex picks, but I think the point was getting in the way of things I have been trying to do that require my alternate picking to improve. I also have some Pick Boy picks that I am going to try.

Yeah I've played with the few vpicks I have and honesty they are by far my least favorite picks I've tried. The material is weird for me. I got the variety pack, and didn't like any of them. Still I kept trying.

I found the Tortex TIII picks are soft enough that the large wide holding end can be easily sanded down to a smaller shape. I also scratch hash marks in the surface for grip and they otherwise make pretty nice picks.

I'm still trying picks out.
I'm waiting for the Trebor Jazzology copy of the Jazz III made from titanium.

Just about everything I try with the exception of the regular old Tortex picks wears strangely and gets caught in the strings. I have only really tried V Picks and some Pickboy picks, though.
