Excellent. I think you need to do a revision 2.0 of the tuning video too. That revolutionized my tuning. I use it every day. I can't even remember the way I used to tune mostly.

Right on. I'm glad those couple of picks are still working out for you.
I would've loved to hear you demonstrated some or all of them, though maybe the subtleties would be lost on camera.
I'm surprised Chuck didn't test velocity, drag, spin and other properties for you.
About ten years ago I settled on one basic size and shape that I'm most comfortable with, so my small motor business could normalize around that, and have dabbled with material variations on that theme. And it really is hard to find one readily available pick to rule them all. Lots of pretty good picks, none always "just right" for everything. That's maybe a fool's errand.
I almost thought of abandoning everything for a simple Fender heavy, just for its ubiquity, the cultural standard, but it just doesn't do enough things well enough in my hands. At an average 35-45 degree angle, it usually sounds like talking with my mouth full.
More videos, please. The medium has good things to offer to your perspectives.

V-Picks makes a thumbpick, but they're $25 each.
No way I am dropping that kind of money for one pick unless I try it out first. And I'd almost be scared to try it, because if I liked them, that means I'm one step away from spending $100 for four picks.

I can't say I liked the v picks. Everyone I tried, 5 variety, had this annoying chirp sound that drove me nuts, especially on the heavier picks. Also they're a little too quick for my taste.

no chirp on mine but what I would describe as a bow-like swoosh .... I really like the way they grab the strings'
I wonder, did you get the 'buffed' type? I could see how a big one buffed out might get a chirp....the Dimension Jr I got was unbuffed...

I have a number of V picks, but my favorites are the tradition models. Very nice balanced tone, just a touch bright, especially compared to the Dugain Celluloid picks.

I love how self-appointed neighborhood watch types come sniffing around, send emails and comment on the most insane bullshit. "Be careful what you say...." I just cut the last few min. from this video to completely ignore the last picks. Better this way, anyway, as they don't fit the category of jazz style picks. I thought they were intriguing and curious so I threw them in as an afterthought. Little did I know they are cult objects for shredder metal teens. ;D
So I'll just make my observations about the two Hufschmid picks here: these are the picks for you if you need something large enough to stand under and shield yourself in case of a hail storm or something so massive that it can cast a 4" shadow and roll down inclines.
Not for me. But I still find them intriguing and glad I gave them a ride.

Be careful what you say? Seriously? WTF? +1 Just because you can't see how great those picks doesn't mean anything, you probably just suck anyways. And they're not even freaking jazz picks Jack Ass. ;D
