I've been using DiAddario for the last twenty years or so but today I put some Ernie Ball Slinky pure nickel on my Love/Hate Carvin and they sound fantastic and feel great. I might try stringing all my guitars up with some Ernie Ball strings of different types for a few months and see how it goes.

I usually just pick up whats on sale as I don't notice much difference. However, I think Ernie balls tend to seem fresher than daddarios

These do seem to have more spring in them. I wonder if it's just because of the all-nickel content?

I've been using Ernie Ball regular Slinky or Super Slinky on my guitars for two and a half decades or so? Except for Christmas a year or so ago I got a box of GHS Boomers .009s that I've been fitting on the strat just to check them out. So far they seem pretty consistent but they might wear out a little faster than the Ernie Ball strings.
I'm very curious to try the Ernie Ball cobalt strings but am possibly concerned they could be radioactive at some level. Not really but.....supposedly they are more slippery than any other type.
Worth a try.

GHS. Ugh! I started out on those and the nickel rockers always felt like you were pushing ranch wire.

I have been using D'Addario 10's forever, probably because they are easy to find if I need to get them in a store. I usually just order 10 packs from MF.

Was an Ernie Ball .011 set user, now many years a Ernie Ball .009 set user. Fretless electric guitar, no problems.

Yeah, can't wait until I use up the GHS so I can go back to the Ernies on the strat. On the other guitars it's all EB. Interestingly, the Ernie Ball strings seem to trigger guitar to midi better. That might be my imagination but the GHS seem thinner even though they are the same gauge.

Hmmm, these nickel plated super slinky strings are not going to cut it.
I've been looking around online and apparently everybody hates all strings now. I suspect all the big name brands have switched from a European source to some shitty Chinese supplier for musical instrument wire.
D'Addario feel like shit and are stiff but sound okay
Ernie Ball feels great but sound bizarre .... all kinds of weird overtones
I'm going to go long and do a string 'shootout' (oh, god, I hate that word) including some upper crust strings made by fairies under moonlight from unicorn hair. Reporting soon...

Trying these now. More once I've had a chance to try 'em out and hear what they sound like.  I used to use Maxima gold strings at one point - they felt a gauge heavier than the gauge on the package but they really seemed to do the trick. But eventually the gold wore off. |

My impression is that they're just a marketing brand. They've pushed their strings at several forums and when asked to provide photos or video of their super proprietary manufacturing process they just can't seem to ever find any or create any  There are a lot of "string" companies and brands out there that are just relabeled strings produced in the same factory. They could very well be doing that. I have wondered about them for some time now, but have never known anyone that has actually played them.
