[Infinite Ego]

As part of my ongoing and now epic string comparison I tried these 'Helix' strings. What duds. Everything I love about my tele into the AC15 was suddenly and dramatically gone. Haven't put them through the Inspector Detector yet but I can't imagine things are going to go well.

As a reminder, so far, the winners are Pyramid round core nickel (but they are temperamental to say the least and just will not work on all guitars); Mangan nickels; and EB Cobalts.

My testing is only half done (gawd, this is taking a long time) but so far the Mangans would be my string of choice with Cobalts at nearly twice the price my close second.

Unless you have an "in" at EB where you get those cobalts for cheap. Well, the local Guitar Center made a mistake during their last "box of strings for $20" sale or whatever and gave me cobalts instead of slinkies.

I do need to order those Mangans, though are you talking about the pure nickel? Or roundwound? Where's a good place to buy them?

Both are good. If you're going low gain stuff then pure nickel is the way to go but metal and hard rock would require nickel wound.

strings and beyond online is where I get those

You have to watch out for the beyond section at strings and beyond. Nobody knows what's there.

pure nickel has always been my thing..but, as with picks, maybe some experimentation is due.

try some pyramid nickel wrap hex core stuff. amazing. that and mangan
