I was watching a Jeff Loomis video, and he was doing some sweepy stuff, and I thought...i've never written a sweepy/Yngwie tune or whatever, I've been working a bit on sweeping lately so I thought why not try so in about an hour or so I put this song together the other night. Here's the link to the tune, "Dustpan" (so clever eh? ) www.reverbnation.com/timmirth/song/16010036-dustpan-demoThanks!

Highly entertaining and true to the genre. Nice clean playing.

that is some crazy-fast playing! I really enjoyed it though!! I really like the transition at about 1:05 with the crunchy guitar accents.

Crazy! Constantly riffing alongsie propulsive churning backing. I like the bass too. So what did you do for the drums? That rocks.
The lead solo starts out almost like a Frank Zappa thing. I like it when it culminates into that rising progression, it almost sounds like Steve Howe went shred (like a Yes thing at 2 minutes).
A last runthru of the theme and we're home safe and sound. Good fun!

Haha. Thanks guys.
I've somehow actually gotten faster lately; quite a bit I've noticed. I'm not completely sure why; I honestly haven't had the time to practice like I used to; but I have learned to be more relaxed and let my fingers fly. I played a gig Saturday and literally played this one thing that even surprised me how fast and clean it was (like 40% faster than anything in this song).
The drums are the "Metalheads" kit from EZDrummer. I just program all the drums one measure at a time; essentially. Though it's easier than it sounds. I'm using REAPER.
I like how the lead solo starts. I've been stealing a lot of those Marty Friedman bends. He was sort of my idol as a kid (Rust in Peace still kills me) but I never really learned any of his stuff. Lately I've been going back to my roots and learning some of these things. His bends just kill me so great. It's got me really noticing how little I was using fretting vibrato and bending. I'm slowing getting better at it.
Pretty cool to record and write a song like that in an hour or two. Technology has made things really easy.

Agreed on how technology has helped facilitate getting the stuff done faster. For me the drums have always been the hardest part despite using multiple techniques to do it. I guess I have to check out EZ Drummer then.
