EGO I see you've gotten into a hiking kick lately.
When we were in NY a year ago we got taken to the foothills of the Adirondacks and went to Old Forge and Bald Mountain.
I'll say this - I was woefully unprepared in that tennis shoes suck for hiking - my hiking boots were back in Minnesota but when I thought "New York" I pictured skyscrapers not picturesque views. A thoughtful hiker left a walking stick which was a big help.
Seriously, these pictures are just a taste of what it's like. And we got off the mountain just in time as it started pouring just after.
At the foot of the mountain there was no cell reception at all, up there you could get 5 bars and 3G believe it or not!
This rock formation on the way up (took about an hour to get to the top) amazed me, it's a lot taller than it looks and it was the only way up so we had to clamber over it.
OK this is my friend Rich the recording engineer who lives near Utica:
This is taken from near the top.
It was overcast but the sun would brighten thru the clouds a bit and the colors were just astounding - this does it scant justice:
Mrs. Bomb:
The ASB up top:
The view up here was astounding - at least 50 miles, probably more but it started getting more overcast as we stayed around.
A clearing near the top:
View to the northeast thru the trees:
Rich clutching the edge of the fire tower:
The very top:
Then we high tailed it out of there since we didn't want to get caught up there as the winds started coming up and it was raining like cats, dogs, etc.
So yeah, that was a pretty inspirational trip. Not really music related but it was cool.
