What hath Mick Barr wrought?
It sounds and looks like they're having fun, and I like the occasional 'exploded view' of a music that has otherwise been ransacked by time. A little one-note (hehe) for my total embrace but it's harmless and fun enough.
And hey, even superficially: rock guitar and free jazz? Yes, please.

I feel pretty much the same.
I have heard other things in this vein that I have liked better, but they seem to be enjoying themselves.
I did feel compelled to defend them on Tgp from the typical attacks on anything slightly abnormal.

I didn't catch it (Wikipedia did), but nice dorky Star Trek reference with their name.

I thought this was OK. I imagine I would have enjoyed it more live. The comments on TGP are priceless. Sometimes I forget that this board is not reflective of guitar players as a whole...

I hopped over to the Gear Page to see what was what and had a hunch I'd found the correct thread just by its title ;D
I'm not offended by the criticisms, I'm foolishly disappointed that the criticisms are so predictably cliched and addled. There's nothing to learn from the derision, just another moronic pile-on. Is it too much to ask for a tiny bit of wit now and then? But a bunch of people were thoughtful or suspending judgment too, so that's cool.
Anyhow, one odd feature of Orthrelm is that it's all composed, even though it sounds like hessian improv. I guess it's vaguely like the first Fantomas record in that sense. Not sure that matters one way or the other, just interesting for such music.
This Cap'n Dunsel thing sounds like improv inspired by similar bands, could maybe expand their scope and dynamics a little, imho.

And man, some people just demand everything be a song, otherwise cognitive dissonance. I like songs as much as anyone, but jeez ... song this, song that, "where's my goddam song harumph"

Cool. I doubt I'd buy the album but I'd pay ten bucks to see them in a club.

It bums me out a little. I paid them a compliment on the youtube comments and the guy who has that account gave me an insulting retort in response. Oh well.
