There are days when I go "I should just stop posting anything I record...nobody is really listening...."
And then someone posted this nice comment in response to a recent youtube posting of mine this afternoon:
"I'm a guitar player and I have to say that the way you approach the guitar is just mindblowing to me!! The textures and soundscapes you create sound just so big & epic.. keep up the great work. You're an inspiration for me !!" - PRSRod, Youtube (Aug 26, 2012)"
Sometimes all it takes is a nice comment to get my enthusiasm going again although I must say this 60 part suite is proving to be rapidly too difficult to put together on even the equipment I have here. It will get done this year though hopefully.

It's always nice to see someone is paying attention.
Out of curiosity, how is the equipment hindering the suite? With 60 parts, how long is the finished work going to be?

It's my brain! Just organizing this and getting all the parts to flow together is proving to be mentally taxing because generally I've done pieces with a lot of tracks but here there's a lot of segues and edits that I want to be seamless that might result out of a lot of short pieces.
That's the other thing - I am considering making it rather than one long mega-track maybe four shorter ones? Like Parts I-IV. That might make it easier to mentally organize it.
Some of the vignettes getting stitched together are as short as half a minute and some go on for several and some are variations on themes.
I still don't have any titles for any of this and I still need to track drums for it too. Soon though. Most of the guitars and synth parts and bass are already tracked though.

It is indeed amazing what positive reception can do for one's motivation and creativity. Like you, I feel that no one is listening and I am pretty sure that is the case 90% of the time

I finally dug into reverbnation's statistics of my stuff and what I saw was very surprising. While I've not had a lot of "full album sales" (around 20) I've had 237 individual track sales that somehow seemed to escape my notice.
The bulk of all ASB sales are coming from outside of the United States:
Main countries of purchase: UK Sweden UK France Netherlands Estonia Germany Norway Finland Australia China US
Sources: iTunes Amazon Spotify Last.FM Myspace Rhapsody Media Net
Top 5 Most downloaded/played songs thru sources requiring payment: Orange Crush (well beyond any other track actually) Tinfoil Hat Espionage Rigsby Reloaded Atmos I
I'm still not sure who some of these people are beyond the folks on this forum but it's interesting that some of the individual tracks have had more "check-outs" than say the full disc.
