Checked out the "Stripped Down" re-issue of Double Fantasy from the library. Nice remix that gets rid of the 80s reverb mess.
Enjoying this so far, though I find myself liking the Yoko songs a bit more...

All those Stevie Ray Vaughan albums desperately need the same treatment... I simply can't stand all that tacky reverb.

Well "Texas Flood" sounded pretty good to me, and most of "Couldn't Stand the Weather" but the one after that "Soul to Soul" sounds like they got a special deal on on reverbs that week.
In Step seemed to improve a little with only occasional reverb festivals but Live Alive was ridiculous: it sounded like they mixed it on a boombox out in the audience and then ran the resulting two track cassette mix into an Alesis Midiverb.
Talk about lame low budget attempt to make it sound like they were playing in a bigger venue than they really were!

As a sort of aside - I see Lennon's killer was denied parole again. Good. Seriously, that was just a terrible moment for society in general.
