Here's a guy I never followed when I was younger but he's aped my tone so well I gotta listen (I kill me but he really does sound like the stupre + vortex + gsharp combination with humbuckers)....
In brief, he was in bebop deluxe in the 70s, broke that up and was constantly shifting genre and style and walked away from playing showy lead guitar solos. But he apparently returned to guitar some time ago, probably because the weird japanese techno ambient stuff he was doing wasn't selling like his old heavy guitar stuff.
Here he is with his 8 piece band playing a mix of old and new material:
and check the tone on this one - huge:
I never really followed his career too heavily but glad to see the guy can still play pretty decently.
He also did a solo show with himself and sequencers prior to his band playing:
I guess this guy was a big influence on Randy Rhoads but honestly I never heard any of his stuff until just recently.
Glad to see he's relatively svelte and in reasonable shape for a guy whose heyday was 1978.

pretty nice stuff. I've known his name more than his music.

From what I've read, he was another victim of horrible record company interference after "Be Bop Deluxe" broke up which eventually lead to him being one of the first guys to start his own label.

Wow, Be Bop Deluxe! Haven't heard THAT name in a long time. Interesting player for sure.
