Oh God? And we wonder why people hate "jazz"? It turns out that is the "jazz" people enjoy.

I don't disagree in a sense (especially the upper middle class white folks). But the younger generation, in particular, would rather eat paint than listen to most of that stuff, and that's there impression of what jazz is. I imagine they would enjoy Coltrane more than Kenny G any day. Especially the rebelious nature of that the more modern movements in jazz. If there was only some way to exploit that and make it cool again, haha.

Paint can be quite tasty....when prepared properly.

Yeah, very weak lineup. "Billy and the Beaters" frontman Billy Vera has a "Big Band" now?
I wonder what the heck Mingo Fishtrap is.

I like the odd Donovan song, but Jazz?
I have always wanted to have a band called the Below Average White band.
I have never heard of Mingo Fishtrap, but they are taking a page out of the black-metal-album-title playbook. You take three unrelated words and string them together(diabolical fullmoon mysticism for example). It appears that they have combined two of the words to form a compound.

Mingo Fishtrap is actually kind of cool. I suspect some of you guys would dig their stuff.

They sound like they could be the coolest act in that entire thing.

I seem to have agreed to help a friend organize a Chapel Hill Jazz Fest. Heaven help me...
