Saw the Mary Halvorson Quintet last night (first night of FIMAV). Amazing. Not sure I actually know anything about the electric guitar.

Imho, she's one of the most compelling guitar musicians to begin shining in recent years. And in Victoriaville too! Nice.

Oh no, not Halvorson! I had totally forgotten about her, and it was glorious. Now she re-emerges from the depths of hell to torment my ears again! NOOOOO!!!!

So you don't dig her playing?
Some interesting stuff happening but she sounds like me if I'm exceptionally bored with what I'm doing.
But she's way cuter than I am so...

I enjoyed listening to her. I hear a lot of the Braxton influence (no surprise there). The thing that struck me the most seeing them live was how much better I felt like the writing was compared to the earlier record I have. Also, as a complete pig, her appearance certainly makes her easy to watch. Bruce So you don't dig her playing? Truth be told, I haven't heard her stuff in a long time. But when it was first presented to me, I literally thought it was a joke. Perhaps her newer material is quite a bit different, but I legitimately hated what I heard of her the first time around. Wonder if I can find a link to whatever the heck that song was...
