I'm sure T knows about this but I thought I would mention it for the benefit of others. Back in the day the Dunlop Jazz III was a pretty nice pick: right size, thick, sharp, etc. Somewhere in the late 80s or 90s they changed the material from some kind of nylon to something that feels like a mix of rubber and cheese. Terrible. Eric Johnson complained about the new material so they came back out with the old kind that now flies under the moniker of the Jazz III EJ model. Much better than the new standard versions. So, if you want to recapture the good old days of the Jazz III aim for the EJ reissues, they're very nice. They also have a version in 'Ultex' -- I think T likes them....but they feel horrible on my fingers..... If you're not likely to loose you pick then go whole hog and buy a Blue Chip Jazz. Wow!

I've had better luck with the red ones than the black ones (feel awful to me), I'm curious how the EJ ones will be. Hmm... and what's this Blue Chip Jazz you speak of?

Wait 35 bucks for a pick? I think I'll pass on the Blue Chip thing. Ha.

I've only lost about 10,000 picks since I started...is that a lot? Ha.
I saw a 6 pack of the EJs for 3 bucks I think, that is much better for me. Ha.

Never heard of the Blue Chip picks before, but I've been playing stone picks (in a Jazz III shape) for about 4 years now. Occasionally still play a Dunlop pick, but only out of desperation...

Try a Dugain..they are about as thick and made from the same acrylic used in picks in the 1970s. I have a few and really like them.

I've still got Jazz III's that were from the 80s sometime, maybe mid to late 80s. So they changed the formula? Really?
I have some of the Ultex kind just because someone said they were better - they have a nicer audible attack but I prefer Jazz III classic (the ones that predate the rubber/cheese version that I haven't seen) since they are better for triggering midi guitar I think - the Ultex have less heft. They do feel like they were made with solidified urine and insecticide.
I'll have to see if I can find some of the Eric Johnson variety.

Got the bumblebee picks today, I think they are going to work well for me, though I should have went with extra thick. Still, feels pretty good, but still getting used to it. Has jazz 3 shape pick which is nice.
