Went to a shop near me and tried this out to audition a guitar I was coveting and found it sitting on the floor neglected - reddish faux naugahyde exterior - what a bitchen little amp.
Real basic controls: Volume, Bass, Treble, Master and a two position switch for Voice then on/off switch and standby. Plus low and high inputs.
The voice switch went from a cleaner warmer rounder jazz type tone to a brighter more country / fender surf tone.
The overdrive was pretty sweet - not too colored not too saturated but you could use it for a lot of diferent types of purposes especially with a stompbox in front.
It was set up so you could theoretically do distorted tones at a volume level that wouldn't risk wifely or neighborly disapproval but was such that it could rock with a band if necessary.
No reverb but you don't really need a reverb on an amp like that I think - you could run a verb into the input or a delay if needed.
So yeah it sold me on the guitar but I'm afraid that amp was probably pretty spendy. No price tag. I didn't dare ask.

Always wanted to try one of those. The clips I've heard sound great.

Seems like Cornford wasn't a great business person. The main builder I think started up Victory Amps after Cornford sort of stopped doing stuff. I wonder if it keeps the prices low or high for Cornford stuff?

What guitar? I was making a reference that the amp sold whatever guitar was plugged into it very well. Although, yes, I should buy something new.
The only downside - this little amp had very little wattage - so it would not really be giggable in a rock combo in a club situation - I think a respectable drumkit would drown it out.
Sounded AWESOME for neck position humbucker jazz and country-esque clean. Distortion was pretty sonorous on the treble pickup. "best practice amp ever made"? Maybe too loud to be one of those.
That Victory Rob Chapman model sounded better for my purposes though.
