Govan, but probably more Abasi seem to be this generations "guitar hero" more so Tosin, though I guess he's kind of like this generations Buckethead (but prettier).
There is also a lot of love out there for Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and John Mayer, at least from the layman listener. .

I know nothing about Abasi but what I checked out seemed like warmup exercises.

Haha, he's better than that, imo. I'd rather listen to him than bucket any day, for my tastes and opinion, he's a much better player than Bucket, and more interesting. Also a way better writer. Lot's of jazz harmonic understanding, interesting techniques and groove. Plus plays with a sort of recklessness that I like.
I just wish he didn't have 5 albums that all sounded really similar to each other, but that' basically my criticism of everyone.

Unfortunately, for me, I like bucket for crazy sounds and stuff, but not sure he's written even one song I thought was great, but might just be me.
I definitely like Tosins playing more than buckets any day.

Buck played on Transmutation. That alone puts him in my Hall of Fame. The end.
