I'll have to check out Ernst Levy's book on harmony and his theory of polarity. It sounds very much like the kind of stuff I work with in social theory. I'm writing 3000 pages on polarities and negations at the moment. I saw a couple of pages on his harmony book on google and seems like he may be getting some of his music theory from ancient Greek philosophy ....

I used to have a long write-up about this on my website .
Steve Coleman has some great stuff on it though ...he has been using it for improvising for 30 years plus I think.
