Midnight Clap sounds a lot like lots of '80s and '90s 'alternative' that knew it was goofy poppy and relentlessly ran with it anyway. Violent Femmes, Dead Milkmen. Throw in a couple of unironic poetic lines, or a bittersweet coda, to contrast the joke lines and you've got it. Good formulaic mimicry, if that's what you were going for. And good retro alt pop if that's what you weren't going for. It's reeaallly hard to be scathingly ironic anymore.
Actually, you could hire an agent and sell this to advertising. In a year it could be all over television. Who's the joke on now? ;D

Yeah , definitely has that violent femmes vibe. Didn't think much about what style I was going for until I wrote the song. Considering I wrote and recorded it in a hour I just made what fit. Still, I think you're right on the money about its similarities.
So far every tune I've written for this project has been a different style, ffrom this to crazy electronica .

Don't know yet. hopefully soon. I need to record some more and write more. work has been ridiculous lately and I'm exhausted. still, pretty easy to do a lot of these. Still learning to use LIVE effectively for dance tunes. also, some of the tunes I just don't like....because they're too like popular stuff.
